The Flying Squad Unit (FSU) at Kampala South Metropolitan has arrested a former private security guard, Ben Okello, who is linked to various gun robbery incidents in Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality.
Okello has been on the wanted list over a gun he robbed from two private security guards on July 31, 2023, and another incident on May 13, this year.

“He used his absence to attack and hit Lugwe Okeng, with a stone to the head and robbed his gun,” Flying Squad. Before the Ndejje incident, Okello had a previous record of theft of a gun, which occurred on 13.05.2023, from a private security guard at Forest Resort Hotel in Lwezza “A” zone, Mutungo parish, Ndejje division.
“The gun was recovered on May 17, near the officer of Time Cop Security Company in Lubowa. The suspect was charged to court for stealing a firearm but released on bail,” Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson said.
Enanga said the public should know that the illegal possession of firearms by notorious criminals, poses a major threat to the community.
“We strongly, believe the arrest of the suspect will bring some bit of relief to the community in Kajjansi and the surrounding areas. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on two counts of stealing a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm, and attempted murder,” Enanga said.
