Relatives of Ambassador James Idule Amoko are enraged by the ongoing disagreement surrounding the burial place of his wife, Justice Stella Arach Amoko.
Justice Amoko of the Supreme Court passed away at Nakasero Hospital on Saturday.
However, the family of her husband submitted a letter to the judiciary requesting that she be buried in Adjumani district. The decision is being challenged at the High Court in Kampala after the biological children of the late Arach contested her burial in Adjumani.
Earlier on, two parallel burial programs were issued, with one indicating Nebbi as the burial site and the other in Adjumani initially scheduled for Friday 24, June 2023.
But, the Chief Registrar Sarah Langa Siu on Thursday, said that the burial of Justice Arach was postponed to an unknown date. According to the letter, the burial will not go on as planned due to factors beyond their control as the judiciary.
Cosmas Madile, a cousin brother to Ambassador Idule wonders why there is a wrangle over her burial despite the fact that Justice Amoko was officially married to his brother. Madile further notes that they are fully prepared to give her a decedent set off.
Ben Chandiga, the cultural leader of the Ali clan in Adjumani district says that it is unfortunate that the squabble over the final resting place of Justice Amoko has unnecessarily taken long, and yet they are prepared to receive her remains.
On Thursday, Kampala High Court Family Division Judge Ketra Kitarisiibwa Katunguka ordered the Attorney General and James Idule Amoko to file their defense in the case where the biological children of Justice Arach are contesting her proposed burial in Adjumani.
