KCCA FC striker Rogers Mato is widely-tipped to win the Pilsner Player of the Month award for May following his stellar performance in the final bend of the 2022/23 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.
Mato was shortlisted on Monday, June 30 alongside Maroons’ goalkeeper Simon Tamale and striker Bashamu Mugwa of Busoga United for the accolade that will be decided based on performance between match-day 26 and 30.
Mato and his KCCA teammates missed out on the champions’ medal after being edged by Vipers on goal-difference to the title on the final day of the season.
But the youngster striker scored as many crucial goals, including four against Bright Stars on May 27, as KCCA stretched Vipers to the maximum in the race for the championship title.

Meanwhile, Vipers’ Alex Isabirye, Sam Timbe of URA FC and Arua Hill’s Livingstone Mbabazi were shortlisted for the Pilsner Coach of the Month award.
As expected, Isabirye, who helped Vipers retain the league title, is the hot favourite to win the award.
