After taking a comfortable 4-0 lead over Bright Stars in the first leg game, Vipers SC will be out to seal their place in the final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup when they travel to Kavumba Recreation ground on Tuesday, May 30 for the return leg match.
Vipers, who are fresh from retaining the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title on May 27, thrashed Bright Stars in the first leg game last week at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.
Goals by Bright Anukani (scored twice), Yunus Sentamu and Karim Watambala virtually ensured the Vipers will be playing the return leg for formality.
Bright Stars will need more than a miracle to reverse the score and overrun the league champions who are enjoying a rich vein of form at the moment.
Speaking on Monday, May 29, Vipers coach Alex Isabirye said his boys will not take Bright Stars for granted; so they will go out for another victory.
With the league title already under their belt, Vipers are eyeing a domestic double triumph by adding the Uganda Cup.
If they advance, as widely expected, Vipers will play Police FC in the final slated for Saturday, June 3 at the Akii-Bua Memorial stadium in Lira.
Police qualified for the final after knocking out Adjumani TC in the other semifinal tie. The two FUFA Big League sides drew 2-2 over the two legs but Police advance on away goal rule.
