Table leaders Vipers SC hit Express FC 5-2 on Tuesday, May 16 to maintain their goal difference gap in the race to retain the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title.
On the same evening, KCCA FC and SC Villa, who are Vipers’ rivals in the three-horse title race, also registered victories over BUL FC and UPDF FC respectively.
That means the trio is locked on 49 points apiece from 26 games but Vipers lead the 15-team log on superior goal difference of 22. Second-placed KCCA have a goal difference of 16 while third-placed Villa has seven.
Meanwhile, it was a fun-filled evening for Vipers’ fans as their team steamrolled Express FC in the seven-goal thriller at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.

Cromwell Rwothmio scored twice, Milton Karisa, Bright Anukani and Yunus Sentamu added one apiece for the host side while Joseph Akandwanaho and Marvin Oshaba replied for Express FC.
This is the biggest score margin for Vipers this season, and particularly under coach Alex Isabirye, who too charge of the Venoms in mid-April after the departure of Brazilians Roberto Oliveira and Beto Bianchi.
At the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo, Allan Okello scored the only goal in the game for KCCA to beat BUL FC 1-0 and keep pressure on Vipers.

Elsewhere, Gift Fred and Charles Bbaale scored SC Villa’s goals at the Bombo Military Barracks grounds for the 2-0 victory over UPDF FC.
The three title rivals return to action on Tuesday, May 23 with Vipers taking on BUL FC in Njeru, SC Villa host Blacks Power FC at Wankulukuku while KCCA travel to Busoga United.
