ALGI FC were impressive on match-day five of the Jinja College (JICO) Football League after overpowering LXG FC 5-3 and thrashing Migoiso 4-1 on Saturday, April 29 at the Volta Arena in Kyanja.
With these results, ALGI leapt from sixth position to fourth with 18 points from 10 games.
Nvuuyo, who beat Mbokya 2-1 and drew 0-0 with Collegians, still lead the 14-team league with 25 points followed by Solida FC on 23 points.
Mbuyaga FC striker Raphael Opirah was the best individual performer of the day as he scored a hat-trick against Migoiso FC in the 4-0 win for his team. He walked away with the match ball and man-of-the-match award for his exploits.
It was, however, a bad day at office for TheKampalaReport-sponsored Kaswandi FC who were walloped 3-0 by Solida FC after a one-all draw with Nvuluga FC.

Kaswandi remain at the bottom of the 14-team log with a paltry five points. However, Opio Katandi, one of Kaswandi’s team officials, insists they will fight on for better results.
“We were quite terrible in one of our games today but we have the potential to do better and win in the next round and move up on the table standings,” Katandi stated.
Like in the past, Saturday’s round of games happened in a fun-filled atmosphere with lots of drinks, music, food and networking.
After the games, there was an after-party with camp fires and meat roasting till late in the night.

The JICO Football League, started as a leisure activity to rekindle the school memories and network, has grown in profile and popularity and attracted sponsors. TheKampalaReport, Track24, S-Line Motors, Uvotam and Spouts of Water are some of the firms sponsoring teams in the JICO League.
