Title hopefuls KCCA FC failed to regain the top spot in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Saturday, April 1 after settling for a 1-1 draw with Maroons FC.

On-form striker Rogers Mato scored KCCA’s equalizer on the stroke of half-time after Fred Amaku put visiting Maroons in the lead at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

Before the game, KCCA, who lost the 15-team league leadership to SC Villa on Friday, were widely-tipped to regain the top spot.

After the draw, KCCA remain in second place with 36 points from 17 games while Villa lead the table with 37 points from 19 matches. Maroons moved to sixth from seventh place on 26 points from 19 games.

In the other game played Saturday, former champions URA FC beat Bright Stars 2-0, thanks to goals by Ibrahim Dada and Livingstone Kabon in the first half at the Kavumba Recreation grounds.
