Ugandan star athlete Jacob Kiplimo won the New York City half marathon race on Sunday, March 19, 2023He raced to the finished line in one hour one minute 31 seconds.
Kiplimo’s compatriot Joshua Cheptegei came in second in one hour two minutes 9 seconds, completing a 1-2 finish for Uganda in the race.
Coming off the World Cross Country Championships victory in Australia last month, Kiplimo is steadily stamping his authority on the international scene.
The 22-year-old runner also holds the world half marathon record; 57 minutes 31 seconds, which he set two years in Lisbon, Portugal.
Last year, he swept the 5,000m and 10,000m gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
