KCCA FC set up a possible heavyweight clash with either Express FC or Vipers SC in the quarterfinals of the Uganda Cup after eliminating Mbarara City on Friday, March 17 to reach the last-eight of the knockout tournament.

Express FC and Vipers booked their quarterfinal slots in earlier in the week after ejecting Paidha Black Angels (4-0) Wakiso Giants (4-3 on penalties) respectively.

Currently, KCCA and Express share the record of most Uganda Cup trophies at 10 apiece.

It’s worth noting that cup holders BUL FC are also still in the competition following their recent 1-0 win over SC Villa in a round-of-32 replay and subsequent 1-0 win over Onduparaka in the last-16.

In Friday’s game, KCCA qualified for the quarterfinals after beating Mbarara City FC 2-1 at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

Rogers Mato and Kankonde Tshisungu scored KCCA’s goals. Henry Kitegenyi netted for visiting Mbarara.

With this victory, KCCA keep their dream of winning a domestic league and cup double alive.

Currently, KCCA lead the 15-team StarTimes Uganda Premier League table with 35 points after 17 games.
