RESULTS:
Express 4 Paidha Black Angels 0
Onduparaka 0 BUL FC 1
Holders BUL FC and former winners Express FC booked their quarterfinal berths in this year’s Uganda Cup tournament on Wednesday, March 15 after eliminating Onduparaka FC and Paidha Black Angels respectively.
Playing away to Onduparaka at the Green-light stadium in Arua, BUL defeated their hosts with a solitary goal from Martin Aprem.
It was, however, an ill-tempered game as BUL’s Emmanuel Kalyowa and Rashid Okocha (BUL) were sent off for foulplay.
Faisal Ssekyanzi, Boban Zirintuusa and Anwar Ntege scored the goals for Express to earn a comfortable 4-0 victory over Paidha Black Angels at the Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku.
The victory keeps Express in the hunt for a record eleventh Uganda Cup trophy. The Red Eagles, as Express are fondly nicknamed by their adoring fans, currently share the record of most Uganda Cup trophies (10 apiece) with KCCA FC.
KCCA FC, meanwhile, will be in action on Friday, March 17 when they host Mbarara City at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.
