The StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) organisers have granted Vipers SC’s request to postpone their match against Arua Hill earlier scheduled for Wednesday, March 1 to allow the ‘Venoms’ prepare for the upcoming CAF Champions League match against Simba SC of Tanzania.
In statement issued on Tuesday, February 28, UPL chief executive officer Benard Bainamani Bampaire confirmed request was okayed and the game will be played in the near future. A new date for the game will be communicated soon, Bampaire added.
Vipers, who are Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Champions League, will play Simba on Tuesday, March 7 in Tanzania.
According to their request to UPL secretariat, Vipers intend to travel to Tanzania before this weekend so that they acclimatise and prepare adequately for the crucial game.
Vipers have not yet won any game in their Group C and are bottom with just one point from three matches. They lost 0-5 to Morocco’s Raja Casablanca, drew 0-0 with Horoya AC of Guinea Conakry and fell 0-1 to Simba at Kitende last weekend.
Playing for the first time in the CAF Champions League group stage, Vipers are desperate to win in Tanzania so that they retain some chances of advancing to the quarterfinals. Another loss to Simba could condemn Vipers to the exit door.
