Queen Kaftah, an 18-year-old woman, captured in last week’s viral torture video, has been remanded to Luzira Prison.
Kaftah, a Tanzanian national, was on Tuesday charged with aggregated torture of her 15-year-old friend and inflicting grievous bodily harm, before Kira Magistrate’s Court in Kampala.
According to prosecution, Kaftah and a group of other women still at large beat up the teenager, accusing her of falling in love with her one Derrick Lwanga, her boyfriend.
Kaftah will remain in prison until January 31, 2023 when she’ll return to court for further mention of the case.
Prosecution states that Kaftah and others still at large on January 8, 2023 in Nsasa Kira Municipality in Wakiso District inflicted injuries on the juvenile (names withheld because she’s a minor), aged 15, causing her grievous harm on accusations that she fell in love with her (Kaftah) boyfriend, Lwanga.
A group of girls were caught in a video that went viral, beating up the 15-year-old (names withheld). The minor is accused of attempting to steal a boyfriend.
According to police, after the video went viral, the mother of the victim reported to police that the girl had been missing from home for some time.
Detectives at Kawempe Police Station said that Aisha Kwagala after watching the video, travelled from her home in Mpigi District to Maganjo in Wakiso District where her daughter was staying with a relative.
Ms Kwagala told police that her daughter had run away from their home in Kagaba Zone, Kiringente Sub-county, Mpigi District.
