SC Villa’s campaign to win the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) title suffered another setback as the Jogoos lost 0-2 to Vipers SC in one of the games played on Tuesday (November 29) evening.
This was the second defeat for Villa in four days. On November 26, Villa lost 0-3 to KCCA FC in Lira.
The back-to-back losses came on the back of a boardroom decision by FUFA’s Disciplinary Panel to dock Villa two points and two goals over acts of hooliganism exhibited by the club’s fans during a league match against Wakiso Giants two weeks ago.
Villa are now seventh on the 16-team league table standings, with 14 points from 10 games. They are seven points off the pace.
Meanwhile, Vipers, who are the defending champions, moved to second place with 20 points after beating Villa on Tuesday at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende. Wakiso Giants are top with 21 points.
In other games played on Tuesday, former champions KCCA FC beat Gaddafi Modern FC 2-1 at Lugogo, URA FC were held to a 2-2 draw by Maroons FC at Luzira while Lira-based Blacks Power FC defeated army side UPDF FC 1-0 at the Akii-Bua Memorial stadium.
The league takes a two-day break, with matches resuming on Friday, December 2 at various venues in the country.
