With this victory, France, who are the defending champions, lead Group D with six points following their 4-1 victory over Australia in the opening match on November 23.
France also became the first holders since Brazil in 2006 to make it out of the group phase.
Italy (2010), Spain (2014) and Germany (2018) all failed to get out of their World Cup groups when they played as defending champions.
Australia beat Tunisia 1-0 in the other Group D match, meaning the battle for the second place is open between the Socceros and Denmark, who face off in the final fixture next week. Denmark have one point from the goalless draw with Tunisia.

In other games played Saturday, Lionel Messi and Enzo Fernandez scored for Argentina to beat Mexico 2-0 in Group C and revive their campaign following the shock loss (1-2) to Saudi Arabia earlier in the week. Poland defeated Saudi Arabia 2-0 in the other Group C game on Saturday.

Saudi Arabia need a win to be sure, though they could go through with a draw while Mexico need a win to have any chance.
