Germany, desperate to avoid defeat and another embarrassing group stage exit, take on Spain in a heavyweight clash of former champions in one of the games scheduled for Sunday, November 27 at the ongoing FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar.
For Germany, there is no room for error in this match, following their shock 1-2 loss to Japan in the Group E opener on November 23. Another defeat for Germany will see them out of the tournament.
The four-time former champions exited the last World Cup in 2018 in Russia at the same group stage;so, they will be fighting to avoid a repeat of such a disastrous campaign.
Spain, on the hand, will be looking to seal their place in the last-16. The Spaniards lead Group E with three points following their 7-0 victory over Costa Rica in their opening match.
In their previous meeting during the UEFA Nations League, Spain hammered Germany 6-0 two years ago.
Meanwhile, Japan could seal their place in the round-of-16 by beating lowly-rated Costa Rica in the other Group E match set for Sunday. The Japanese are oozing with confidence following their 2-1 victory over Germany earlier this week.
Elsewhere, Belgium will be seeking to qualify for the round-of-16 when they play against Morocco in Group F. The Belgians beat Canada 1-0 in the opener on November 23 to take charge of the group while
Morocco, one of Africa’s five representatives in Qatar, will be fighting for their first victory at this tournament.
In their opening game, Morocco drew 0-0 with Croatia, who will up against Canada on Sunday.
