Vipers SC, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League defending champions, have yet another big test at hand when they host Arua Hill SC in one of the Match-day Eight games on Tuesday, November 15 at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.
Despite beating Black Power FC (1-0) in their last league game on November 11, Vipers have struggled to assert themselves this season so far. They have lost once, won and drawn twice apiece in five matches, and they are in an unfamiliar nineth position on the 16-team table standings with eight points.
The Kitende-based champions face an Arua Hill side, which has been quite impressive after winning three out of their five games thus far. Arua Hill are three places above Vipers on the log, with 10 points.
Speaking during the pre-match media conference on Monday, November 14, Vipers’ Brazilian coach Roberto Oliviera said his side will be out to get maximum points so as to ‘boost our confidence.’
Two days later, Vipers will return to action when they host army side UPDF FC on Friday, November 18. League organisers want Vipers, who are still in the CAF Champions League, to navigate their rescheduled fixtures before they return to continental duty next year.
Meanwhile, Maroons FC will host Blacks Power FC at the Prisons grounds in Luzira while Bright Stars FC welcome Onduparaka FC at the Kavumba Recreational ground, Wakiso in the other games scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
