RESULT: St Lawrence 2 MUBS 1
St Lawrence University came from behind to upset two-time champions Makerere University Business School MUBS) 2-1 in the first leg of their Pepsi University Football League semifinal tie on Tuesday, October 25 at Kavule.
After a barren first half, Benjamin Nazar gave visitors MUBS the lead in the 57th minute but Bruno Bunyaga cancelled it out in the 67th minute before Kayongo Michael gave the hosts a deserved lead in the 73rd minute.
St Lawrence were the most dominant side and should be hoping to carry the same performance into the second leg at Nakawa while the away goal is huge for MUBS to build on.
There is still all to play in this tie given that MUBS will welcome St. Lawrence in the second leg in Nakawa on Tuesday, November 1.
Action in the Pepsi University Football League continues on Thursday, October 27, with former champions Uganda Martyrs University (UMU), Nkozi hosting defending champions Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Nkozi for the second leg of the other semifinal.
UCU edged Uganda Martyrs 1-0 when the two teams met in the first leg in Mukono last week but Uganda Martyrs will fancy their chances of making it to the final for the first time since 2017 when they won the title.
