Sulaiman Jakana Nadduli, the son of former minister and war veteran Abdul Naduuli, died on Monday, according to family members.
Jakana, who ran unsuccessfully for the Nakaseke central MP seat in the 2021 elections, was granted bail on September 21, 2022, just days after being charged in court for allegedly promoting sectarianism contrary to Section 41 of the Penal Code Act.
He was granted bail by grade one magistrate John Paul Obuya with a specific directive barring him from making statements on any media platform given the seriousness of the offenses against him.
Abdul Nadduli, Jakana’s father, who was present in court, jumped into his vehicle with the defense lawyer shortly after adjournment to deposit the bail money. Katikamu South MP Hassan Kirumira welcomed Jakana’s release but criticized the court for what he called exploitation of accused persons.
