There was no stopping City Oilers as they asserted their supremacy by beating Namuwongo Blazers 66-64 in the decisive game seven on Friday night to clinch their eighth consecutive National Basketball League (NBL) title.
Nigerian import Francis Azolibe scored a game-high 24 points for the Oilers to win a closely-contest game seven at the Lugogo indoor stadium. The Oilers won the title on 4-3 in the best-of-seven final play-offs series.
En route the deciding game seven, the Oilers beat Blazers 60-53 in game one, before the series were leveled in game two 71-60. Oilers then won game three 70-68 and game four 77-74, before Blazers fought back in game five and six 70-65 and 76-71 respectively.

In the women’s championship, UCU Canons dethroned JKL Dolphins after winning game seven 75-65 earlier on Friday night at the same venue.
The Canons trailed 3-1 after game four but they fought back to win games five, six and seven to seal the title on a 4-3 series victory.
