RESULTS:
South Sudan 1 Uganda Cubs 4
Ethiopia 2 Tanzania 3
Arafat Nkoola scored twice; Patrick Sembuusi and Abubakali Walusimbi added one apiece for the Uganda Cubs to maintain their unbeaten run with a 4-1 victory over South Sudan at the ongoing U-17 CECAFA tourney in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
This is the second victory in a row for the Cubs, who thrashed Burundi 4-0 in their opening game on October 4. The Cubs are in Group B with Burundi and South Sudan, which means they have emerged out the group stage unbeaten.
In the late game played on October 6, hosts Ethiopia lost 2-3 to Tanzania in the Group A game.
The Uganda Cubs are attempting to defend their title, which they won in Tanzania in 2019.
The tournament will serve as the region’s qualifier for the Under-17 African Cup of Nations, with the two finalists earning direct entry to the continental showpiece, which will be held in Algeria in April 2023.
