RESULTS:
City Oilers 60 Nam Blazers 53
JKL Dolphins 60 UCU Canons 50
City Oilers and JKL Lady Dolphins, the men’s and women’s National Basketball League champions, made a perfect start in their campaign to retain the respective title by winning Game One of the final play-off on Wednesday (September 28) night.
Oilers, who are aiming for the eighth consecutive league title, proved to be the masters of the final play-offs as they rallied from three points down at half-time to win the game 60-53 over Namuwongo Blazers at the Lugogo indoor stadium.
Despite their courage and effort, the Blazers, who are playing in the finals for the first time, lacked the steel to withstand sustained pressure from the more experienced City Oilers’ players during the game.
Game Two of the best-of-seven series is slated for Friday, September 30 at the same.
In the women’s championship, defending champions, Lady Dolpins, defeated UCU Canons 60-50 in the game played earlier at the same venue.
