Until Wednesday (September 21) night, the local basketball fraternity had hopes of ending City Oilers dominance in the league, but the Kamwokya-based side blew UCU Canons in Game Four of the National Basektball League semifinal play-off series to reach another final.
By winning the game 71-57, City Oilers sealed a 3-1 series victory over the Canons and they marched on to their eighth consecutive final.
The dominant Oilers, who enjoy the heavy funding of City Oil businessman Omar Mandela, will now play Namuwongo Blazers in the best-of-seven series final that start on Wednesday, September 28.
Pundits are already convinced it will be Oilers’ eighth consecutive league title. But Namuwongo Blazers, who will be playing their first final, have vowed to give their best against the defending champions.
