CHAN QUALIFIERS RETURN LEG MATCH
Saturday, September 3@4pm
Uganda Cranes v Tanzania
Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic and his players go into Saturday (September 3)’s return leg match against Tanzania with confidence that they will qualify for the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) Finals due next year in Algeria.
This is after the Cranes won the first leg game 1-0 last weekend in Dar es Salaam. Travis Mutyaba scored the late brilliant solo goal to give the Cranes advantaged in the two-legged qualifiers.
Speaking at the Pre-match media briefing on Friday, September 2, Micho stated that his players are ‘physically and mentally’ ready to eliminate Tanzania. “My players are in good shape and there is no room for complacency. There is so much to fight for in Saturday’s game and we cannot allow that spirit now.”
Team captain Milton Kalisa reiterated Micho’s optimism by saying his colleagues cannot afford to lose to Tanzania at home in such a crucial encounter.
The Cranes are bidding to appear at the CHAN Finals for the sixth time, having previously competed at event in 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020.
