The Principal of Kaabong Nursing School and several other officials survived a road ambush by suspected Karamojong warriors along the Kotido-Kaabong road.
The incident happened at Lopero village in Rengen sub-county Kotido district on Tuesday evening. Available information indicates that the two armed warriors shot at the car in which the principal, Mary Achuma, was travelling on a journey to Kaabong from Kotido district.
Kidepo Regional Police Commander Dauda Hiriga told URN that the two armed warriors were crossing the road when they started shooting at the moving vehicles, one of which was carrying the principal and another that had four soldiers from the Rengen Army barracks.
Hiriga confirmed that no one was injured during the attacks, and that the incident was reported to police this afternoon. He said the joint security forces have commenced investigations into the attack.
Even though there are more armed forces in Karamoja and they are forcing people to give up their weapons, deadly ambushes are still happening there.
