MBARARA: Bushenyi District Football team, whose shirt sponsors are the KR Media Ltd, the publisher of Kampala Report, is poised to reach the quarterfinals of the 10-team Ankole Districts Cup tournament.
www.thekampalareport.com worked with one of the Bushenyi district stakeholders Mr. Dan Mugura Karukiiko, an international procurement consultant to sponsor and print both the home and away uniforms for the team.
The sponsorship also included match day dressing kits for the Bushenyi District technical bench.
In their latest outing, Bushenyi shared spoils with Rubirizi district after drawing 1-1 in a game played on July 10 at Nyakasharu playground.
Pooled with Rubirizi, Buhweju, Sheema and Ntungamo in Group A, the unbeaten Bushenyi team is currently in second position with four points from two games. Ntungamo lead the group on five points but with a game better; they have played three matches compared to Bushenyi’s two.
Bushenyi is one of the smartest teams in the tournament, thanks to sponsorship from the KR Media Ltd, who bought the match-day jerseys and other dressing outfit for the coaching staff.
“We have ensured that Bushenyi is smart on the pitch, and thankfully their results reflect that aspect, too,” an elated Alex Atuhaire, the publisher of the KampalaReport, stated.
Mbarara City tops Group B after winning three consecutive matches to amass nine points. Rwampara, Isingiro, Ibanda and Mbarara District are the other teams in the group. Ibanda are second on the table with three points.
The tournament is played under theme ‘Twiine Entaranta’, literally meaning ‘We have got talent.’
According to Jonathan Tumuhaise Tibatiina, one of the organizing officials, four top teams from each group will progress to the quarterfinals, slated for July 23. The quarters will be played on a home-and-away basis.
