Uganda’s national women’s soccer team, the Crested Cranes, thrashed Zambia 5-0 in their final warm-up ahead of the Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Finals kick-off due on Saturday, July 2 in Morocco.
Viola Nambi scored twice, Fauzia Najjemba and Rita Kivumbi added one apiece for the Crested Cranes’ emphatic victory over Zambia in a pre-tournament game played Tuesday night in Morocco’s western city of Marrakesh.
Zambia, who are also one of the teams due to play in the WAFCON Finals, had no answer for the ruthless Crested Cranes.

The Crested Cranes kick-off their campaign against Senegal in a Group A match slated for Sunday, July 3 in Rabat, the Moroccan capital.
Their victory over Zambia is a timely boost for the CECAFA regional champions as they aim to make it out of the group, which consists of highly-rated Burkina Faso, Senegal and hosts Morocco.
