KCCA FC coach Morley Byekwaso lauded his side’s performance after winning the Nkurunziza Memorial Cup on Saturday, June 25 in Burundi as the former Uganda league champions kicked off their season preps in style.
Speaking after the emphatic 4-0 victory over Burundi’s Aigle Noir Makamba FC, Byekwaso stated: “I am pleased with our performance in this final and if we keep it up we’ll be champions again in the upcoming season.”

Julius Poloto scored two of the goals as KCCA rioted against their hosts Aigne Noir Makamba, who won the Burundi Premier League in 2019.
KCCA, who finished runners-up to champions Vipers SC, are preparing for the new 2022/23 season slated to kick off in August.
The former Uganda league champions are expected back home on Sunday, June 26 to continue their pre-season warm-up programme, which includes more friendlies next week.

Nkurunziza Cup was played in honour of of Burundi’s former president, the late Pierre Nkurunziza, who died in 2020. Nkurunziza was an avid football fan.
