The organising committee of the Pepsi University League (UFL) has docked six points and goals from Makerere University over hooliganism that led to the abandonment of their match against YMCA recently.
Makerere is also fined Shs 1 million, according to the ruling issued Thursday, June 9.
The ill-fated match, played at Makerere University grounds, was halted and abandoned after rowdy home fans invaded the pitch after YMCA scored second goal to lead 2-1.
In a statement, a spokesman for UFL said the disciplinary committee awarded three points and three goals to YMCA whose two goals during the match also stand to their advantage.
Makerere has 48 hours to lodge any appeal against the decision.
This is not the first time Makerere is being punished over hooliganism. The university returned to the competition this season after serving a six-year ban.
Meanwhile, Kansanga-based International University of East Africa (IUEA) was also fined Shs 500,000 and stripped of victory for fielding non-licensed players during the game against Victoria University. The disciplinary committee awarded the victory (3-0) to Victoria University by forfeiture.
