Vipers SC kept the dream of winning their first-ever domestic double alive after beating Mbararara City 2-1 on Wednesday (May 11) in the first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinals.
Paul Mucurezi and Milton Karisa scored the goals for visiting Vipers in a game played at the Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara. The second leg game is scheduled for May 17 at St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.
The result is perfect for Vipers, who have already won the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title, as they look to retain the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
In the other Uganda Cup semifinal tie, BUL FC lead lower division side Booma FC after thrashing them 5-0 in the first leg match played on Tuesday, May 10 in Masindi.
BUL FC, who lost last year’s final to Vipers, host Booma in Jinja for the return leg game next week.
