Meanwhile, organisers are keen on hosting an accident-free event this time round. According to David Mayanja, the Clerk of the Course (COC), they plan to launch a safety awareness campaign for fans who have in the past been main cause of accidents during the rally by straying into the competitive sections of the route.
Speaking during the sponsorship handover of Shs 70 million to event organizers by KCB bank on Thursday, Mayanja said they are under strict instructions from the international motorsport body, FIA, to observe safety measures during the rally.
Accordingly, part of the sponsorship money will be spent on safety sensitisation campaign.
