WAKISO: Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said police at Nansana are currently investigating two separate incidents of murder by mob.
The first incident was reported on Tuesday, February 15 at about 6:00 am at Nansana East 2b, where two suspects grabbed a phone from an unidentified person headed home from a bar.
“The victim made an alarm which prompted Boda Boda riders to come to the rescue. One of the suspected thieves was lynched to death by the Boda Boda riders while the other survived after Police intervention,” Owoyesigyire said, adding that the deceased has been identified as Isaac Alias Dog City, a resident of Kibuloka.
On the other hand, the survivor identified as Mugisha Mwesigwa a resident of Kyebando is currently detained at Masitowa police as he receives treatment for injuries sustained during the mob attack.
In a related incident, another mob justice was reported at Nansana West A, where a body of a male adult believed to be 18 years was discovered by residents who informed the police.
Through investigations carried out by security forces, it was discovered that two people snatched a phone from a reveler coming from Unique bar.
The victim made an alarm, attracting Boda Boda riders who responded by hitting one of the thieves to death. “The identity of the deceased is yet to be established as he had no papers on him,” Owoyesigyire added, noting that the other one allegedly survived and run away.
With all the mob incidents happening, the territorial Police at Nansana have tasked community liaison officers to move around and sensitize Boda Boda riders not to take matters into their own hands against persons they suspect to be thieves, but to report suspects to police for further management.
