Queen Kafta, the student who appeared in a viral video beating up a 15-year-old girl with her friends over a man, has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Kira Chief Magistrate Roseline Nsenge on Tuesday, 31 January 2023, found Kaftah, a Tanzanian national and student at Trinity College Nabweru, guilty of aggravated torture and inflicting grievous bodily harm contrary to section 2 (1) (b) and 5 (a) (h) (j) (k) of the Prevention of Prohibition of Torture Act 2012.

The magistrate said the punishment is meant to teach the public that such actions are not allowed in society.
“I hereby sentence Kaftah Queen to three years in prison. The punishment should deter other children from getting involved in such acts,” she ruled.

She has been on remand at Luzira prison since January 17, 2023.
